If you’re exploring therapy, you might have questions, and that’s completely normal.

Beginning therapy is a courageous act of self-care, and finding the right fit matters. At Bloom Counseling, my goal is to create a space where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin to heal at your own pace.

Below you'll find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions to help you better

understand Bloom Counseling’s process and what to expect from your therapeutic

experience.

What to Expect in a Therapy Session

Therapy offers a space to pause, breathe, and listen to what’s happening beneath the

surface. Our sessions are collaborative and guided by your nervous system’s natural rhythm.

Together, we’ll notice patterns of activation or shutdown and gently build awareness and

tools for regulation and healing.

You don’t need to show up with everything figured out. We’ll move gently, honoring your

pace and capacity.

My Approach to Therapy

My work is trauma-informed and integrates EMDR, Brainspotting, Parts Work

(IFS-informed), Somatic Processing, and Polyvagal Theory.

These evidence-based, body-centered approaches help access where trauma and stress are

held in the body and mind, release old survival responses, and create new pathways for

safety, connection, and self-compassion. Healing isn’t only about talking, it’s about restoring

a sense of wholeness and safety in your system.

What Does “Polyvagal-Informed” Mean?

Our nervous system constantly scans for cues of safety or threat. Polyvagal-informed

therapy helps you understand and work with your body’s responses; fight, flight, freeze, or

calm connection.

By learning to recognize and regulate these states, you can begin to respond to life from a

grounded, connected place rather than reactivity. Over time, this awareness helps you feel

more balanced, resilient, and empowered.

Areas of Specialization

I specialize in supporting women navigating trauma, burnout, and midlife transitions,

including perimenopause and reproductive mental health.

These seasons of life can awaken old emotional layers and bring opportunities for deep

healing and self-understanding. Therapy provides a compassionate space to nurture

yourself through change and reconnect with your inner strength.

What Happens in the First Session?

Our first session focuses on connection and understanding. We’ll explore what brings you to

therapy, your story, and what you’re hoping for.

There’s no pressure to have the right words — we’ll move at your pace. My goal is to help

you feel safe, seen, and supported as we begin this process together.

Do You Offer In Person Therapy, Online Therapy, or both?

Yes. I offer both in person and online therapy. Online therapy consists of secure,

HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions, allowing you to meet from the comfort of your own

space. Many clients appreciate this flexibility, especially when balancing work, caregiving, or

living in rural areas with limited access to specialized care.

How Long Are Sessions, and How Often Do We Meet?

Sessions are typically 50–55 minutes, meeting once per week at the beginning. As you build

skills and capacity, we may shift to biweekly or as-needed sessions. Every journey is unique

and together, we’ll find the rhythm that fits best for you.

What Are Your Rates?

My standard rate is $145 per session. Therapy is an investment in your emotional and

nervous system well-being; a commitment to your healing, balance, and growth. If you have

questions about out-of-network reimbursement, I’m happy to discuss your options. I also

offer EMDR intensives and the rates can be found on my website @

How Can I Pay for Sessions?

I accept cash, check, credit/debit cards, as well as HSA and FSA cards, which are processed

securely at the time of your session.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

Because your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, 24-hour notice is required

to cancel or reschedule without a fee. Late cancellations and missed sessions are charged a

fee of $100.

Is Therapy Confidential?

Yes. Everything you share in therapy is private and protected by law. The only exceptions are

situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, or as required by law. We’ll review

confidentiality in detail during your first session so you feel clear and safe.

What If I’m Nervous About Starting Therapy?

That’s completely normal. Reaching out for support takes courage. My role is to provide a

calm, compassionate space where you can simply be. We’ll go at your pace, no pressure, no

rush, just gentle curiosity and care for your nervous system.

How Will I Know If We’re a Good Fit?

The connection between therapist and client is one of the most important parts of healing. I

offer a 15-minute consultation so you can ask questions and get a sense of our fit. If I’m not

the right match, I’ll gladly refer you to someone who might be.

Therapy is deeply personal, and you deserve to feel safe, supported, and understood in the

process.
